Procurement Associate

.

We are in search of a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Associate to join our team. This role presents a distinctive opportunity to oversee materials, negotiate, manage quality, and analyze root cause in a dynamic environment. Your supply chain and category management skills will be pivotal in this role. The Procurement Associate will be instrumental in procuring goods and services required by the company, involving tasks such as researching suppliers, preparing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. This role will also involve close collaboration with the Procurement Manager and other departments to foster efficient and cost-effective procurement practices. Please note that this position is based on-site in Richmond, VA.

Your tasks

 

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, ensuring they meet company quality, cost, and reliability standards.
  • Assist in sourcing new suppliers and maintaining relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and changes in supplier offerings.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders according to company policies and procedures.
  • Track and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to resolve any pricing, quality, or delivery issues.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is maintained.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to manage inventory and address any discrepancies.
  • Support the Procurement Manager in forecasting demand and planning inventory needs.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and other procurement-related documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and analyses related to procurement activities.
  • Help negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers for cost savings.
  • Monitor and report on procurement costs and savings achieved through negotiations and sourcing strategies.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as finance, operations, and legal, to ensure alignment on procurement needs and practices.
  • Provide support in resolving any procurement-related issues that arise within the organization.

Your profile

  • Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes, supplier management, and inventory control.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and procurement software/tools.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in handling procurement documentation.
  • Experience with procurement software or ERP systems (SAP experience a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of contract management and legal aspects of procurement.
  • Analytical skills for evaluating supplier performance and market trends.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Office-based role with potential occasional travel to meet suppliers or attend industry events.
